Abhishek Sharma Extends Dominance as ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings Updated for December 2025

The ICC updated its Men’s T20I batting rankings on 9 December 2025, with India’s Abhishek Sharma retaining the top spot at 913. Phil Salt, Pathum Nissanka, and Jos Buttler follow closely as several rising stars and seasoned performers reshape the global T20I batting landscape with strong year-end performances.

The latest update to the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, released on 9 December 2025, has reaffirmed India’s rising influence in the shortest format, with Abhishek Sharma maintaining his hold on the top position. The young Indian opener continues his exceptional run with a formidable rating of 913, supported by his career-best 931 achieved against Sri Lanka in Dubai earlier this year, underscoring his growing stature in international cricket.

England’s Phil Salt follows at second place with a rating of 849, retaining strong form built around his career-high 881 recorded against West Indies at Barbados in 2024. Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka remains firmly in contention at third, carrying a rating of 779, just shy of his peak 794 from the Zimbabwe series at Rawalpindi in 2025.

England captain Jos Buttler occupies fourth with 770, a position reflecting both his leadership and consistency, while Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan stays competitive in fifth place on 752, close to his own best of 776—also achieved in Rawalpindi during Zimbabwe’s tour. India’s Tilak Varma stands just behind him, holding sixth position with a rating of 750, though still some distance from his remarkable 845 achieved against England in Chennai earlier this year.

Australia’s Travis Head takes seventh spot at 713, having once soared to an impressive 885 against Scotland in Edinburgh in 2024. South Africa’s Dewald Brevis, one of the most closely watched emerging talents, climbs into eighth position with 685, a rating that also marks his career best following his performance against India at Cuttack in 2025.

Mitchell Marsh sits ninth for Australia with 684, supported by a career-high 694 earned during Australia’s clash with India at Melbourne earlier this year. Sharing this rating is India’s Suryakumar Yadav, who also stands on 684. Although currently placed lower due to ranking calculations, Suryakumar’s career-best 912—achieved against New Zealand at Ranchi in 2023—remains one of the highest peaks ever recorded in the format.
